Element was founded in April 2009 with the mission to provide an intuitive, aesthetic , and free open source operating system for the Media Center and Home Theater PC experience. With this in mind close attention has been paid to moving the PC out of the traditional office/desktop environment and into the living room, by developing a computing environment designed around the concepts of an across the room or ten-foot interface.
Being one of many open-source operating systems based on Linux we have placed a strong emphasis on 'Being Not Just Another Linux Distribution'. Our media-centric approach, along with our unique easily understandable interface and the technologies used to make it all possible are what we believe set us apart from the rest of the crowd. Partnerships If you're the webmaster of a Linux/Open Source website or manage an open source software project and seek to form a partnership then please feel free to contact us and offer your proposal. We're always looking to develop further alliances with open source communities and companies.
OEM Solutions
We also offer exciting cost-effective opportunities for OEMs to deliver our innovative software on there systems. So if your a system builder experienced with HTPCs or even new to the arena and want to take advantage of the recent surge of interest in HTPCs, then define your company's hardware by taking advantage of our OEM Solutions.
Contributions If you would like to contribute to Element we'd love to have to on board, join our development team, tell us what you can offer. We're also in need of beta testers, so if your not a developer or graphics artist you can still lend a hand. - -
Who's behind Element?Element has no corporate or commercial parent, it is an open source community project founded and managed by Kevin L. Thompson, former developer of the TuxSoftware App Portal and the gOS 3 Gadgets Linux distribution.
